Playing with the big boys now

Today, I was experimenting with my new Nikon D90 :D Finally I have it!!! Its much more complex that my ex-camera Nikon D50.
So bear with me a while, my photos may come out a little blurry. I'll stick to one shoot today, the rest came out real bad.
But hey! I'm happy to do a shoot now. My tripod comes this week so I'm almost a real photographer.

Ready to Wear Spring/Summer 2011

I am sorry about the 11 day disappearance! I have a deadline later today and I was thinking, I'm sure there's something else I should be doing as well. I'm sorry for not blogging at all. I will be back in full force! My apologies.

So like I promised, I will post a little something about Vogue's Spring/Summer for 2011.
I saw photos of designers Paul & Joe from their Ready-To-Wear at the Paris Fashion Week. I couldn't find much about him or them (I'm guessing there's two people) but all I know is they are French. :/

I picked out this collection mainly because I personally believe it was perhaps the best Ready to wear collection on Vogue.
The colours are just right for the summer, yellows and orange, well for whatever Summer we get in England. But I think what's more interesting about this collection is that its quite subtle. Most shops I browse through usually have extremely short skirts/shorts or overly low cut tops... With my figure I just can't get away with short short skirts, that just won't happen. But this collection doesn't give too much away but still looks summery.

I just put together what I liked from the collection. Personally, I think this jumpsuit is amazing. The colours will look beautiful in the sun.

I love the yellow dress and shorts. All winter I've had to wear grey, black and other colours associated with the depressing season. I think it may be very bright colours for me summer this year. I fell in love with the dress the moment I saw it! Not only is the colour a good shade of yellow but its long too. I had trouble finding a decent maxi dress last year because of my height and since I've grown, I'm looking for one that pretty much sweeps the floor.

Style goes around

It's been three days since I last posted anything. I promise to make an appearance a lot more often!

Well the blog begins when I was inspired by the glimpse of a film I caught the other day. I have no idea what it was called but that it was on Film4 and it was set during the Second World War. So that would make the era from around the late '30s to mid 40s.
The glimpse of the screen that I remember well were two women one in navy blue and the other in a dark green both in suits. They were both very graceful women and they wore their clothes with confidence. (Yes I managed to catch this is a short excerpt of the film) There suits looked similar to the models below.

Though these were not exactly the same ones the two women had on, I saw these styles and I absolutely love them! These women seem to have the same prestige the women had in the film. Perhaps its just how women were in those days! But anyway, I think it's the tight fitted pencil skirts as they show off the models figures. I mean personally, I would not wear my skirt so long but I think that the length emphasizes the elegance of the suits.

These suits were re-modernised by C. Madeleine’s at the Vintage Fashion Showcase last year. From a glance at this re-modernisation we can see that the skirt has been shortened, but does it still have the same beauty as the 1940 models?

Well anyway, this was just one example that shows that style goes around.

A patient wait

Courtesy of Ken Rockwell

This camera is what I long for! Then I wouldn't have to keep writing who I 'borrowed' it from. Yes it is the all time famous Nikon D90. I used to own the D50 which was a beauty - I could take all of my outfit photoshoots and post them. Now I have to patiently wait for the D90.
I know they say 'patience is a virtue' but I have been wanting to take an outfit photo in so long!! Anyway, I thought it would only be appropriate to share with you others who are sharing the same feeling as me - patience.

This is a shoot by Danny Santos. I caught a glimpse of it a bit earlier and I thought I should make it an entry. I think this is a wonderful shoot here. The black and white is probably what complete it - shows the mood of the photo more than if it were in colour.

What I love most is how everyone is so calm about the rain. I would call this shoot one that shows patience because they seem to know that the rain does not last long.
I'm still trying to work out why the focus on one model could mean. Maybe it could show that no one experiences the rain the same - everyone reacts differently? Or it could just simply show their peace with the cool rain...

The New Year!

Courtesy of My DD Network

So it's the third day of 2011 all ready and I am yet to blog! I came across the H&M Spring/Summer collection 2011 and I thought I should post it on my blog.
Recently I haven't been liking many of H&M's clothes but it was probably just the Winter collection that I wasn't agreeing with. But this Spring/Summer collection looks good.
I like the colours for this year's collection. Honestly, I have never been a fan of pink but this shade I like this shade for the warmer days.

I like the brown in this collection but I thought brown was usually an autumn collection colour? Oh well works with this collection, but I probably wouldn't wear pink in the Summer - that's the time to be wearing bright colours right? Anyway, the maxi dress would be a definite. I really like this dress and the way it's cut.
