The Season of Autumn Winter - Doc Marten's 2011

I found that that Doctor Martens originated in Germany by a man named Klaus Märtens.
He was a doctor for the German army in the second world war. While on leave, he went skiing in the Alps in 1945 where he had injured his ankle. His usual army boots were pretty uncomfortable for an injured foot so while he was recuperating he decided to redesign the boot - using softer leather and air-padded shoes.
He strugged to sell shoes in as an individual businessman until he met an old friend Dr Herbert Funck, in 1947. With adjustments, the shoe sold - mainly to women over the age of 40.
The sales began to increase by 1952 and sot they opened a factory in Munich. By 1959 the company were looking to market their footwear internationally.
The company, later came to the UK in 1960 where the shoes were produced.
